It’s finally the most wonderful time of the year. That means it’s time for caroling, decorating, and celebrating with family and friends. Here are some tips to make your house smell great before your loved ones arrive (without using any harmful chemicals, too!).

1. Boil Cinnamon

This is a great option for the holidays. It smells just like Christmas and doesn’t contain any dangerous additives that could be harmful to your indoor air quality.

Add water and a couple of cinnamon sticks or cinnamon spice in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer the mixture for a few minutes until you can smell it throughout your home.

2. Clean With Fruit

Cleaning your home with lemons and baking soda is a great cleaning alternative and makes your home smell fresh!

3. Add Houseplants

Houseplants can be used to purify the air by filtering out common VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in your home — which is actually far more polluted than the outdoors.
